OCC and PJD Unveil the 811 Car: A New Icon in Damage Prevention

One Call Concepts, Inc. (OCC) is pleased to announce the release of a new icon for damage prevention: the 811 Car. Built by Paul Jr. Designs (PJD), the 811 Car was unveiled October 19th, 2016 at the Greater Chesapeake Damage Prevention Training Conference (GCDPTC) in Ocean City, MD.
Hundreds of people were on hand at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel, while thousands more watched the event live via Facebook. Matt Ruddo, OCC Director of Customer Relations, and Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan kicked off the event. Shortly thereafter, Jimmy The Bike Wrangler rolled out the 811 Bike, followed by Paul Jr. driving the 811 Car. Fireworks, smoke, and a laser lightshow went off beside the vehicle as it approached the tent. Paul Jr. and Tom Hoff, OCC’s Chairman and CEO spoke to the crowd about the highlights of the Car before Dan Florenzo, OCC’s President, closed the event.
The 811 Car is a specially customized Callaway Corvette SC757 Z06, super-charged with 757 horsepower and 777 lbs-ft of torque. As Paul Jr. put it, “This car was fast to begin with, but now, it’s lights out fast. With cutting-edge mechanics, the vehicle can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Paul Jr. incorporated similar symbols of excavation into the 811 Car’s design to make the vehicles thematically similar. He said, “This is the first time I’m seeing the two [vehicles] together…and it’s like a pair made in heaven. We’re very proud of it.”
Tom added, “It’s beautiful. Whatever Paul does, it’s always something special and different… and when you look at the 811, it just drives that message home. I’m blown away. This is everything I could’ve imagined and more.”
Current plans call for the 811 Bike and Car to travel the nation together continuing the Bike’s tradition of teaching new audiences about the importance of underground safety and damage prevention.
